Margaret joined Growth Coaching UK after 39 years’ experience in teaching and educational leadership and management, including mentoring aspiring and new head teachers. As a qualified coach she now works with educators developing coaching in schools. She is especially interested in the impact that coaching has on the wellbeing of educators and learners.

Margaret is working on several writing and research projects on coaching; past publications include articles in the International Coaching Psychology Review and Coaching at Work. With Christian van Nieuwerburgh, she has compiled a comprehensive list of academic and other references for coaching in education, and is co-author of their chapter Coaching in Education, in the forthcoming Sage Handbook of Coaching.

Margaret has a Diploma in Commerce (Glasgow College of Commerce); Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education - Business Education and Economics (University of Strathclyde); Postgraduate Diploma in Management in Education (University of Strathclyde); Scottish Qualification for Headship (University of Stirling) and an MSc Coaching Psychology with Distinction (University of East London). She is qualified to use mental toughness assessments, and is a certified Thinking Partner ( She holds associate membership of the Association for Coaching, and affiliate membership of the British Psychological Society Special Group in Coaching Psychology.
